As with many of our kitchen renovations, Alex MacLellan and Trish Kiley, Rothesay, NB, started out with a solid oak kitchen, and were ready to kick it up a notch with fresh, new, painted cabinets. While structurally, there was nothing wrong with the existing cabinets, they wanted a more functional and up-to date design, to create an efficient and beautiful living space.
Decorator Cathy Rhyno stepped in to help the homeowners pull the look together, creating a breathtaking contrast from old to new.
An absolutely stunning transformation was to follow:
An out of date peninsula was replaced with a functional island, creating an eat-in area with additional seating, storage and counter space. Granite countertops added a special sparkle to the look.
An enclosed refrigerator gives the space a high-end look and keeps the room looking neat and tidy. Deep pullout shelves keep the top of fridge dust-free, but now you’ll have to find another place to stack your mail 🙂
A microwave range hood allows you to keep your microwave off the counter, while at the same time acts as a range, eliminating the need to purchase an extra appliance.
This type of range can be vented or recirculated depending on homeowner preference.
Upper cabinets have clear glass to allow for decorative dishes, while keeping the lower half solid to give lots of efficient storage space for everyday dishes.
A lift up toaster garage allows the homeowner an area for small appliances, and keeps counter space clean and organized. By adding glass doors, more light is captured from windows, and allows the space to feel even brighter.
A lighted walk-in corner pantry provides a phenomenal amount of storage space and takes care of the need for a lazy susan or deep, inaccessible corner shelves:
