For all of you natural wood lovers, we’ve got a beautiful makeover for you today! Welcome to the home of Rob & Wanda McNulty, Heathland, NB.
Avondale was originally called into this reno project, to reface existing cabinets. As per usual with refacing, Avondale did the budgets both ways, refacing and replacing the cabinets.
In this case, new cabinets were the best bang for the buck. In doing new, we were able to do a much better layout, such as stove in the corner and add a larger window to bring in more light. The final result was simply astounding.
Let’s get right to it and take a look at the before shot:
Below are the hand drawings with the new design. The basic layout has been kept quite similar, swapping out inefficient doors for large soft close drawers, moving the stove to the corner to eliminate the need for a lazy susan. The fridge will have be built in with a cabinetry surround.
Let’s see how the designs translate into actual cabinets. By enlarging and bringing the window down to the counter, the space is transformed. Adding glass and LED lights to the tops of the cabinets give a space to show off collectibles, and add more light to the kitchen:
Below is the view of the fridge area before:
To make underused space more efficient, tall pantries are added next to the fridge. The valance above the doorway was removed, and the fridge is now built in for a more custom look and feel.
Here is a before shot looking from the opposite end of the kitchen towards the stove:
And the after shot from the same angle:
Homeowners swapped out their black dishwasher for a stainless Fisher & Paykel double dish drawer:
A pullout is the perfect place to store drying racks, cookie sheets and cutting boards.
A lock-in-place mixer lift up creates an accessible space to store and use a Kitchen Aid mixer. No more struggling with the heavy appliance.
Swapping out doors for deep drawers lend lots of space, and easier access to large pots and pans:
A life up toaster garage is a great improvement over the traditional roll ups. Lots of space to store small appliances, and keep the counters neat and tidy. An automatic light makes finding what you need a breeze. Deep drawers below are perfect for storage:
A big thank you to Rob and Wanda for choosing Avondale for your kitchen renovation!
