We’re staying local today with a heritage home renovation belonging to Scott & Jamie Clowes, Bedell, New Brunswick, just outside of Woodstock. The homeowners started with an original home, approximately 150-200 year old, and have transformed the space into a home bursting with modern country charm.
The homeowners sat down with Jim at Avondale, to come up with a couple of kitchen layout options. The final two options were:
Option 1: Bring window to counter, stove and microwave range hood in corner, island with support beam built in:
Option two: Decrease window size, add shelves, large custom enclosed range hood, and keep large chimney enclosure to separate dining and kitchen areas:
The homeowners opted for the second plan and renos began!
Let’s take a look at the kitchen starting with a before shot. The existing kitchen was fitting to the home, but was in need of upgrading:
The homeowners wanted a kitchen that would not look out of place in the older home, but with modern finishes and upgrades. Marble counters, large drawers and an enclosed hood make this kitchen user friendly and aesthetically pleasing:
The window is brought closer to the counter to bring in more light to the kitchen area, while the apron front sink and taps are still used to keep with the farmhouse theme:
This before shot is facing the stove, and an access door to the kitchen on the right:
An over-sized range hood enclosure adds a focal point to the kitchen, and large drawers add ample storage. A custom designed pantry and fridge area keep everything within reach:
A cookie sheet pull out section next to the dishwasher is perfect for cutting boards and cooling racks:
Deep drawers replace door/shelf storage, making access to pots and pans easy:
A pull out pantry next to the fridge is great for storing baking products:
Finally, a walk in corner pantry to house all dried goods and small appliances at a glance:
On the other side of the room divider sits the dining space:
Now, are you ready to take a peek at the rest of the house?
As you reach the top of the stairs, a white washed landing, full of charm and country appeal:
Next we find a whimsical pink room, perfect for any princess!:
Keep going and we come to the powder room, complete with vessel bowl sink and high neck faucet:
This master bedroom evokes a serene energy, waiting to provide a gentle night’s sleep:
The master bedroom extends it’s relaxing atmosphere to the master ensuite:
And now into the master closet, with plenty of storage and organization space:
Even the outside of the home got some loving treatment:
Thank you Scott and Jamie, we thoroughly enjoyed working on your project!
